communities confronting the complex facets of individual and
community land-use decisions. |

The center provides assistance in understanding local tax policy and
available options. |

The center assists communities with needs assessment, asset
building, and community planning. |

Center affiliates conduct research informing state and local policy
decisions. Ongoing areas of study include: job growth, workforce
development, property tax reform, the “Brain Drain,” and poverty

Partnering with Penn State Cooperative Extension, the center provides
educational programs for local development organizations, citizens and
elected officials. These programs range from introductory sessions on
regional economic development to in-depth programs on specific
community issues. |

Center's clients include state government, elected and appointed local
officials, community organizations, trade associations, business and
industry, and individuals. |
